Who operates Wayfinder
Wayfinder is developed and operated by Riley Lawler, a sole trader trading as RL Applications in Australia. Questions and privacy requests can be sent to rambodog555@gmail.com.
Information Wayfinder may handle
- Account information: email address, account identifier, sign-in and verification information, and an optional display name. Supabase handles account authentication and passwords.
- Personal activity: completed-adventure ticks and dates, shortlist choices, ratings and notes.
- Trips: trip names, dates, selected adventure identifiers and trip notes.
- Photos: a photo you select, a resized upload and related adventure or date metadata.
- Sharing: group membership, sharing choices and records previously shared with a group.
- Community activity: submissions, votes, star ratings, reports and blocks if those features are used when available.
- Support: the email address, message and attachments you choose to send.
- Device data: session data, preferences, cached app files, local browser storage, IndexedDB records and queues used to support offline work and later syncing.
Location and network information
If you choose Near me and allow location access, your coordinates are sent to BigDataCloud to identify your region. That provider also receives your IP address and describes using observations from its free service to improve IP geolocation. Wayfinder does not save these coordinates in your account or track your route. You can browse destinations without location permission. How BigDataCloud uses this request.
How information is used
Information is used to operate accounts, sync personal progress, show saved trips and photos, apply sharing choices, support optional Community functions, respond to support requests, investigate abuse or faults and protect the service. Wayfinder does not sell or rent your personal data and does not include advertising or an advertising analytics SDK.
Groups and older shared records
The intended completion-sharing control covers completed ticks, completion dates and the display name used in the group. It does not automatically share personal notes, ratings, shortlists, new photos or trips. Those categories need their own explicit sharing action where supported.
Older photos or trips that a person explicitly shared may remain available to the group until that share is removed or the person leaves, subject to the final verified behaviour. Turning off completion sharing does not withdraw older records. Another person may also retain a copy of information they previously saw or saved. Group controls currently show maintenance while ownership protections are prepared.
Community recommendations are intended for other app users to read, together with your display name. Votes, ratings, reports and block choices are also stored to operate those features. Community protections are still being tested; do not post private or sensitive information there.
Service providers and hosting
- Supabase provides authentication, database and file-storage infrastructure.
- GitHub Pages hosts the current Wayfinder PWA.
- Cloudflare Pages hosts this support and policy website. These hosting providers may receive normal connection information such as IP address and browser details.
- BigDataCloud receives coordinates when you choose the optional Near me lookup.
- Email infrastructure carries messages sent to support and will support account emails once production delivery is configured.
Providers may process information outside Australia under their own infrastructure and terms. This website contains no advertising or analytics script and does not set advertising cookies.
Future purchases
Purchases are not active in the PWA review build. If purchases are enabled in future native releases, Apple or Google will process payment and may keep transaction records. RevenueCat is planned to receive an app-user identifier, purchase receipt information and entitlement status so access can be restored. RL Applications does not plan to receive or store full payment-card numbers.
Optional reminders
Adventure reminders are off unless you enable them. They are generated on your device using your reminder settings.
Storage, security and retention
Wayfinder uses device storage and hosted services to provide offline access and account syncing. No internet service can promise perfect security. Account, group, Community and deletion controls are being tested before broader release.
Information is kept while needed to provide the service, resolve support or security issues, meet legal obligations and maintain proportionate backups. Precise production retention periods have not yet been finalised. Removing the app or clearing one browser does not itself delete hosted account data.
Your choices
- Decline location permission and browse without Near me.
- Choose whether to upload a photo or use Community and group features when available.
- Review or change personal content through the app where the relevant feature is operating.
- Ask a privacy question, request access or correction, or request account deletion by email.
Children
Wayfinder is not directed to children under 13. A parent or guardian who believes a child has supplied personal information should contact support.
Policy changes
This page may change as testing finishes, services are configured and native versions are prepared. Material changes will be reflected here with a new update date.
